Uses :
Onglyza 5 mg tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
How it works :
Onglyza 5 mg tablet increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas, which in turn lowers the blood glucose levels.
Common side effects :
Headache, Upper respiratory tract infection, Hypoglycaemia (fall in blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea, Nasopharyngitis.
Food interaction for onglyza :
It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Onglyza 5 mg tablet at a fixed time.
Alcohol interaction for onglyza :
Taking alcohol together with saxagliptin may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Pregnancy interaction for onglyza :
Onglyza 5 mg tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
