Keppra is a prescription anti-epileptic drug (AED) that is used to treat seizures and seizure disorders. It is specifically indicated for partial onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and myoclonic seizures. It is also used in the treatment of seizures in children aged 3 years and older. Keppra works by reducing the excitability of neurons in the brain, thereby decreasing the tendency for seizures to occur. It is usually taken twice a day, as prescribed by a doctor, with or without food, and may be taken indefinitely to control seizures.
